Ms. Williams joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2002, becoming a shareholder in 2005. She currently heads the Firm’s Intellectual Property Department.
Ms. Williams received her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law. She received her B.S. in Chemistry from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Her current practice allows her to offer legal services for some aspects of intellectual property on a contingency or flat-fee basis.
“I enjoy the intellectual challenge of technology and innovative pursuits, and appreciate the creativity exhibited in the arts,” Ms. Williams says. “I get tremendous satisfaction from advising independent inventors and entrepreneurs about their intellectual property matters and assisting them in pursuing their endeavors.”
Ms. Williams is a co-chair of the Inventor Issues Committee of the American Intellectual Property Association and a member of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. She also serves as the Chair of the Firm’s Social Services Committee.
“I really enjoy the idea of protecting innovative and artistic pursuits,” she said. “I really want to help people find a way to benefit from their work.”
Outside of the office, Tara enjoys listening to live music, hiking in the mountains, gardening, reading and solving puzzles.
