Tara Williams - A Personal Perspective
Tara Williams has a broad view of the world.
“I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to live in a number of different places and to have been exposed to other cultures,” she said. “I have lived in many areas in the United States, including Michigan, Texas, Florida, Missouri, New York and Alabama, as well as in other countries, including Uganda and Germany.”
Tara originally attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., concentrating her studies on religion and philosophy. She later transferred to Auburn University in Alabama where she completed a degree in chemistry. Her original goal was to use her knowledge of chemistry to advance the field of artistic and historic preservation.
However, Tara did a great deal of travel between her undergraduate and graduate degrees, and learned about the field of intellectual property law. She became excited about the idea of using her chemistry degree to protect people’s original enterprises. So she changed direction and pursued a Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
“I really enjoy the idea of protecting innovative and artistic pursuits,” she said. “I really want to help people find a way to benefit from their work.”
Outside of the office, Tara enjoys listening to live music, hiking in the mountains, gardening, reading and doing puzzles.
